Note: this is abstracted data from the original biography. [Surnames: CLARK, FITZGERALD, THAYER, WAITE] Emerson Clark of Farmington was born in Randolph, MA on June 8, 1847, son of Elisha V. Clark, also native of Randolph, MA. His mother, Mehitable N. Thayer, was born in Quincy, MA. When he was a young man the father was a shoemaker for some years and then went to Quincy, where he was engaged as a butcher from 1844-1846. Then he returned to Randolph and in 1866, he brought his family to Farmington IL to embark in the meat business. In 1877 he sold out to his son, our subject. Our subject was very successful in the meat business, operating also in Chicago and various other places in IL and IA. He also has money invested in real estate at Sioux City, IA and at various other places in the West. He married in 1872 Miss Emma Waite. They have 2 children: Bessie W. and Eugene V.
